About the Pitmaster - Bert, Aussie Tong Master
Bert's BBQ journey began at the tender age of 7, during the days when his father flew racing pigeons. While waiting for the pigeons to return, young Bert took on the responsibility of BBQing the meat, igniting a lifelong passion for grilling. Today, Bert is a BBQ competition pit master, known for his team, Aussie TongMasters. His first competition in Adelaide, South Australia, saw him secure 3rd place in the steak division, propelling him into the world of competitive BBQing. Recently, Bert competed at MeatStock in Bendigo and earned a golden ticket to the prestigious SCA World Championship in Texas next March. With 23 BBQs in his collection, each with its own unique story and flavour profile, Bert's love for BBQing is undeniable.
